Project Yume Nikki is a series of fanworks allegedly endorsed by Kikiyama, which includes: manga, a light novel and merchandise, made with the participation of different writers and artists and hosted by Surfers Paradise in collaboration with Bell House.
Although commercial activity involving Yume Nikki merchandise can be dated back to 2011, a mysterious website, yumenikki.net, appeared in May 2013 with a countdown, which alone was enough to spark the dormant discussion revolving around the mysteries surrounding Yume Nikki back to life.
"Fraud" discussion
The lack of updates in Kikiyama's website made many anons in /yn/ skeptical about the project, which started a site wide spicy debate about the ethics behind the project. The debate's especially notable because of the word "Fraud", being used in most of the skeptical(and opportunist trolls) posts.

Administrative action took place quickly and many users were banned to prevent hostile discussion, although the ethics behind Project Yume Nikki have been a continually resurfacing topic of discussion over the years with the subsequent updates of the project. The "Fraud" term became especially relevant again when the developers of YUMENIKKI -DREAM DIARY- claimed to be in contact with Kikiyama.
